While the name may give you
the impression this “looker” is a princess… nothing could be further from the
truth. Diva thinks life is best when experienced at the speed of light, and a
little mud, snow, rain, and general ugly conditions won’t get in her way.
That’s probably why Diva received two Prize II’s in Natural Ability. Both times
she received a three in search… not too many puppies run too big and hunt too
hard at five months of age. Like I said, not much of a princess.
When she was a pup, you could feel the amount of unbridled energy in Diva. While it proved to be annoying sometimes, her nonstop energy made her a quick speed in the training department. Diva was a natural retriever but we decided to force break her early to take the “edge” off. She had all of her obedience nailed by the time she was 10 months old. Even more impressive is that she was so cooperative that she maintained her prey drive throughout the process. A few trips to the Dakotas and to the Wisconsin grouse woods have proven that with a little training all her energy could indeed be harnessed into a very productive package. Her speed and grace in the field mirrors that of her father; and like Tango, she to is proving to be a “duck dog.” As Diva has matured, she has learned to focus her energy and unleash it in both the field and water with control and style. Birds are what Diva lives for and sometimes it seems that not much else matters, unless of course she’s snuggling with the kids in front of the TV. We are excited about what this young dog has brought to the kennel and we look forward to watching her achieve great things as she matures. Diva’s first litter with INT CH, VC Shooting Starrs Sharp Shooter, MH earned a NAVHDA Natural Ability AND a Utility Breeder Award in the same year, all before they were 20 months of age. Every puppy tested earned a Prize I in their Natural Ability and Utility tests, many handled by novices or first time NAVHDA members. Four are already Versatile Champions, all with maximum scores, before the age of three years.

Take a whole lot of desire, a little independence, along with the willingness to please and you have just described the stylish little dog we call "Rainey." Triple J’s Run Rainey Run earned her Prize I, 201 point Utility score at two years of age with both enthusiasm and ease. A pairing between Shooter and Kelly’s Virginia Classic, 2x Prize I in Utility, produced this NAVHDA Natural Ability and Utility Breeder Award winning litter. Rainey has a natural instinct to move through the ruffed grouse cover in Northern Wisconsin, and the North Dakota pheasant trips let Rainey show off her run, solid points and incredible desire and tenacity. A Real Natural! Rainey also displays a great affection for kids and is a joy to have at home. Her first litter, sired by Sharp Shooters APC Algonquin, earned a NAVHDA Natural Ability Breeder Award, as did her second litter, sired by VC Sharp Shooters Time Bomb MH.

Chrissey has contributed some outstanding attributes to her puppies. Her litter, with Ty, is a NAVHDA Natural Ability and Utility Breeders Award litter. Those pups have matured into sound hunting dogs. Three earned maximum scores of 204 points, Prize I's in Utility at two years or younger and all of them became Versatile Champions at the NAVHDA 2002 Invitational. Wild bird hunting is truly Chrissey’s calling. While she enjoys the tests and trials, she "turns it on" when she’s on the prairie searching for sharptail grouse and pheasants or when tracking a wily crippled duck in the marsh. _________________________________________________

Chance's natural abilities exceeded all of our expectations. Her training was minimal, yet she achieved unusually high scores at a young age. Chance's desire to please complements her high energy level and makes for a biddable companion, both in the field and in the home. Chance is a member of a NAVHDA Natural Ability Breeders Award and a Utility Breeders Award litter. All five pups were tested and received Prize I's in Natural Ability, receiving an average score of 109 points. Four became Utility dogs, two of which went on to become NAVHDA Versatile Champions (VC Sharp Shooter's Me-Oh-My Ty, MH and VC Sharp Shooter's Little Rascal, MH, CD). Her first litter with KS Orson vom Pottsiepen continued that success by achieving a Natural Ability Breeder Award. The pups' average Natural Ability score was 111 points. Three of the four are Prize I Utility dogs with scores of 201, 201 and 187 points with one going on to earn a Versatile Champion title (VC Sharp Shooter's Prairie Dancer, Sharp Shooter's Jasmine and Sharp Shooters APC Algonquin), earning the litter a NAVHDA Utility Breeder Award. These dogs are as gifted as their parents and are some of the most conformationally pleasing dogs we've ever produced.

Annie's parents are Shooter and Tess. She is a Versatile Champion, has three NAVHDA Utility Prize I's, a Natural Ability Prize I (110 pts) and is an AKC Master Hunter. Annie's training has been minimal as retrieving, steadiness and honoring have come naturally to her. The intensity of her honoring is matched only by her strong pointing instinct. She and INT CH VC Sharp Shooters Prairie Dancer MH produced a NAVHDA Natural Ability and Utility Breeder Award litter, with one pup becoming a Versatile Champion and a Master Hunter. Annie is owned by Mark Picard of Take Aim Kennels. _________________________________________________

Tera was a true combination of her parent’s best qualities. She had her father’s amazing drive in the water, natural intelligence in true hunting situations and his adorable and affectionate nature. Match that with her mother’s grace and style on birds and you come up with an extremely well-rounded animal. Additionally, she inherited both of their sound body types and had good conformation. Training came easy to Tera. Her water love was absolutely inherent as we didn't have to teach her water work, but only had to foster what came to her naturally. Tera’s love for retrieving was a true reflection of her father, Shooter. She was a medium range dog that was handled with ease. Her cooperative nature and "team player" attitude made her a joy to be around, both in the field and marsh, as well as in the house. Tera was a Prize I Utility dog at two-and-a-half years of age. Her sister earned a UT Prize I, 204 points and another littermate received a Prize II, 200 points. These high scores make them part of a NAVHDA Utility Breeders Award with an average Utility score of 202 points. The same litter was also a recipient of a NAVHDA Natural Ability Breeders Award. Tera's puppies were show stoppers as she produced two Natural Ability Breeder Award litters and one was also a Utility Breeder Award recipient. We lost Tera on November 24th, 2007 while hunting in North Dakota. While we’ll never know for certain what caused her tragic death, our best speculation is a pnuemothorax from something she must have inhaled while hunting. Our only solace is she died doing what she loved most which was hunting with and for us.

Tess was blessed with an abundance of style and
desire, two attributes that permeated her entire being. Her ability to find
birds made her a showstopper since her first day of testing and competition.
Tess was one of our primary hunting dogs until the end. She was the first to hit the ground and the last to jump into the trailer at the end of the day. She bagged thousands of birds while hunting, training, testing and guiding. We can only hope that her version of heaven includes prairies to the horizon, sharptail grouse, potholes and ducks, all in abundance. We will forever miss her spirit, her determination and her never ending love to hunt. _________________________________________________
